Provost Joseph J. McCarthy and Senior Vice Chancellor and Dean Anantha Shekhar recently clarified eligibility requirements for School of Medicine faculty appointments to endowed chairs and professorships. Full Professors and Associate Professors, both tenured and appointment stream, may be recommended for endowed chairs or professorships. Assistant Professors with qualifications commensurate with promotion to Associate Professor may also be nominated for endowed chairs or professorships at the time of dossier submission for promotion to Associate Professor.
Faculty at lower ranks may be considered for endowed positions only if the language establishing the endowed position specifically permits that option.
